Mapfre Exhibition on Spanish History

The Mapfre foundation is currently doing an exhibition on the history of Contemporary Spain through Fotografía, pintura y moda [Photography, Painting and Fashion].

“This exhibition shows the history of the two last centuries in Spain; a history that presents some of the most remarkable political events, but where great historical determinisms tend to disappear, giving way to the memory of social interactions and recollections; a view that influences the burden of the day-to-day and one in which our own changing way of looking at ourselves occupies a central place.”

It not only displays history but also parallels the exhibition with a depiction of the changing perceptions of women and femininity throughout the last two centuries. It’s a beautiful exhibition that really gets you thinking, and for those following this blog who aren´t in Spain – the whole exhibition can be viewed online here.
